Yeah. Hyperbole is more like it.

People can not be made to do anything against their direct will, their
better judgement, or their fundamental morality and beliefs - NO MATTER
HOW DEEPLY HYPNOTIZED THEY ARE. " All hypnosis is self-hypnosis " is
the maxium which applies. Someone in hypnosis who is pressed by a
suggestion to do or imagine something repugnant to them will awaken
IMMEDIATELY, and be impossible to re-hypnotize unless their trust can
be regained.

In fact, you can accomplish pretty much EVERYTHING, including, in some
cases, major surgury without anesthetics, with light hypnosis that you
can achieve with deep hypnosis. Deep hypnosis is more showy and
flashy, and better suited for stage shows and demonstrations.

Group hypnosis has little application beyond stage performances, also.
Hypnotizing 100 people at the same time would be something for the
Guiness Book of World Records - it doesn't seem improbable - just
unwieldy - kind of like flagpole sitting is.

Controling mass psychology is a different branch of
sociology/psychology, commonly refered to as POLITICS or POLITICAL
SCIENCES. One or two college courses, and you will realize the
difference. Actually, you shoud've learned it in your High School
Civics class -- but we know what a great failure US Public Education
has turned into.

All of this, of course, is perfectly in line with "Hypnosis 101". It's
amazing how often we keep responding to posts with "Read the FAQ."
Just one of the FAQ's of life, I guess ... or of the Internet.
