| Dear Nic: >Ok - the Meta Model is a very sound introduction to the field of >linguistics in general and to effective communication in particular. Here again is where we disagree. I personally find the meta-model a cumbersome process that can be replaced with one single sentence. Learning about Modal Operators and complex equivelants and the like are not neccessary. The purpose of the meta-model is to gather information of how the client views the world and one single sentence replaces the whole model. If someone says something to you that you don't understand, the one single sentence, asked, will gather the needed information about what they said is. "What do you mean by that." That's all you need to know, and when asked that most people will be more than happy to explain it to you. Wow, can it really be so simple? Oh by the way, I think Michael Hall is an over educated buffoon but I agree with you about Dilts. |

| Tim You have not replied to: "Which research specifically tells us that "the NLP way isn't the way it really works." point us to specific research please. As I mentioned above as examples, if we are looking at Linguistics, the work of Chomsky et al has been verified over and over again. The most effective change elements of NLP are Rapid Cognitive Therapeutic interventions, which are used in many more fields than NLP. And hypnotherapy is a useful tool, whether used within NLP or not - that Bandler and team chose to model Erickson is a benefit as a lot of Erickson's stuff is very effective. " What intrigues me is that yo uare quick to write that the Meat Model is "a cumbersome process that can be replaced with one single sentence." Yet your posts are full of generalisations, deletions and distortions, which are elementary meta-model violations. I don't deny that 3D Mind has its uses - I also accept that some of NLP is useful, some isn't. I am always wary of techiques claiming to be a cure-all. I'd be intrigued to see how you would use 3D Mind with a client who came to me recently, suffering from diabetes and polycystic ovaries. Could 3D Mind deal with such issues? |
