Hello. I would like to know if it is possible to learn nlp without participation in a live seminar. I know that nlp is really based on interaction on other people, but it is also based on "language patterns(which can, (and sometimes must) be learned by writing them down, or by practicing "in house") Although things like matching and mirroring might be quite hard to learn if you don't have partner to practice it.So you have to practice it in the wild. Also known as go straight ahead and practice the skills in real life without even trying. (It's a good thing if you're a time manager. For example you could train your sensory acucity by looking at a person, closing your eyes for a second, and then noticing the differences.) Although I know that it is pretty hard to learn it from books. What about seminar tapes? They cost a lot of money. (Sometimes even 1000$ +) (Kenrick cleveland - Unconscious persuasion) And they are just recorded data. So how are they different from a book, because that question was in my mind for some time. Although I might have the answer: NLP is a pretty visual subject, many people can't visualize things like "matching" or "mirroring", and have to see it to believe it. I know that you HAD to learn nlp one way or another. So how did you practice this field? I've personally have heard that david Barron (I've listened to one of his teleseminars (got them from a friend from america) learned them by speaking to a non-living object or just speaking to himself. Although I think it could be possible for you to learn rappor without going out. Of course you would have to have a really powerful imagination. You know what I mean. Mental rehersal! Imagining yourself copying another person.

I really apreciate your feedback. My reason (or outcome, if you want to associate it with the "sucess formula of nlp" 1 know your outcome, 2 flexibility, 3 sensory acucity, )for learning nlp is becoming a therapist and helping others. The reason I can't attend a live practitioneir training our group meating is: 1 I live in poland, and the only competent teacher of nlp is in warsaw. (About 1000 km (miles) away from me). And I have to be 18 to attend a live practitioneir training, while I"m only 16. 2 I don't have anybody to ask to "train with me". So the only method to train sensory acucity and rappor is in real life. You see poland is a country that was socialistic until 1990 (fromally until 2000). So you can't expect us to be "modern" so quickly. And nlp is a pretty new discipline.

Hi Musubi, I applaud you on at least asking the question, to get you to the next step. Limitations can be a mental block for many people. Your benefit as someone else has mentioned is time. You have more years available than others here or around you. Physical limitation can be distance and money. So you have to use your current skills to gain some income. It may be a tutor in a subject you have goods skills at or earning currency doing a job close to home or school. You have email, so now you remove the distance by communicating with anyone. Making contacts in Warsaw now, will be an advantage once you move there in the future. Going back to time, you will only gain what time you put into it. Good Luck John (British Columbia, Canada)
