Default Hypnosis

HyperSuggestibility or I mention again 'saturation' &/or the client's
reaching threshold of association, learning and/or integration of the
associations/learnings/understandings/etc.

Maybe the brain is "geting it" and it may be as much or more related to how
much the person is really learning or integrating the information and/or
actually doing the associations and making the connections towards adopting
what Bandler refers to as new "Neural Sets".

To me, validation is playing role here as well. What the client validates
and/or in-validates throughout the process of the "hypnosis"... which BTW,
IHMO, any definition

There's know hypnosis here. That's k-n-o-w. RB

QUOTE

It is delightful to see how thoroughly you appreciate hypnosis as a means by
which to establish interpersonal relations and to set into action
intrapersonal processes (VIBES) by which the personality can reveal itself
(Identity). Practically everybody else I know places too much emphasis upon
himself as a hypnotist and what force the hypnosis he is inducing can
exercise, instead of realizing, as you have, the absolute reality of the
person who is hypnotized, his personality, his attitude, wishes, etc. ME pg
93 Letter of Milton Erickson

QUOTE

Dr. Erickson was an expert at Guiding Associations. And this was the level
of intervention that he customarily chose when he was doing psychotherapy.
Erickson did not necessarily work at changing the thinking; it wasn't as if
he was just trying to substitute more positive thoughts for negative
thoughts. He actually was - guiding the associative process - building the
associations so that these associations at a pre-conscious level would drive
effective behavior." Jeff Zeig - Archives - videotapes

QUOTE

Erickson said that every induction that he did had an element of confusion
in it. The purpose of the confusion is to create an arousal. Once you create
that arousal that energy can be used . The purpose of the confusion is to
disrupt the conscious habitual set to serve as a transition between the
waking state and the hypnotic state. Again, this is an unusual technic
because it is a technic of arousal and when we traditionally think of
hypnosis, we think of hypnosis as being something that's more sedating. So,
it wasn't important necessarily that the patient was in a relaxed state.
What was more important for Erickson was that the patient was in a focused
state attending and responding to the implication of his technic. Jeff

So a paradox of Hypnosis - is that it seems traditionally a way of putting
people to sleep. But for Erickson it really wasn't. For Erickson it was a
model of elicitation. It was a model of waking people up to their own
possibilities.

Traditional model - 20 -25 % success using hypnosis and direct suggestions

Erickson used formal hypnosis 20% of time - other 80% used hypnotic technics
in psychotherapy
