Default nlp to supplement treatment of bipolar disorder

Hello there,

I'm hoping maybe you guys might be able to nudge me in the right
direction...

Around four years ago, I worked with an NLP-trained psychologist for
about a year and a half. I was misdiagnosed as having PTSD, so much of
the exercises we did were tramua related. Some were helpful, some not,
and couple unpleasant. The fact that my bipolar symtoms were severe at
the time, certainly influenced this. Overall, I found the traditional
sorts of nlp exercises and theory to be most interesting, as well as
self-hypnosis, which I was quite good at. I got quite few books and
tapes about NLP, and found the self-study worked quite well for me.
But, now it's been some years since I've worked with it.

Then finally got correctly diagnosed with Bipolar disorder
(rapid-cycling, mixed states) early this year. After many months, we've
finally found an adequate pharmacutical treatment. I'm relatively quite
stable. I still have my ups and downs, but not so severe that I want to
take more meds if I can avoid it. Yet they still cause too much
disruption at times; for example slipping into a slightly manic phase
and spending a lot of money. I can feel it's there but can't quite pull
myself out of it or keep it withing safer bounderies...

And I've been thinking that NLP could help with this. I used to
struggle to control my emotions, but now I think a better way to look
at it is keeping my moods/emotions within certain bounderies with
respect for the situation. I'd like to hear if anyone has any
suggestions for books/tapes or exercises I might find in some of the
NLP materials I have related to this. And if anyone's feeling
particularly generous, anything regarding dealing with chronic illness
would be appreciated as well.

Sorry this got long, but I thougt an outline of my background could be
helpful for making suggestions. Many thanks for your time. :-)
